| “Hope in the Melody, Peace in the Song” |

Interview with SONiA from Disappear Fear Right now, there is someone who is dying for what they believe in. Right now, there is someone struggling to survive. Right now, there is someone who is happy about today. Right now, there is someone searching for someone else. And right now, there is peace flowing through the trees dripping uplifting melodies on an acoustic guitar. And I think that it is here that we will find SONiA.
She has inundated the world with her own protest of love, togetherness and peace. She has embraced differences and bronzed them with her harmonies. Her lyrics give hope to a future of songs with purpose coupled with a mellow voice buffed with an abrasive truth and a soft wisdom. It all began in Baltimore and "you always take it with you," the things and places from your past. There is a lot of growth that took place in this small city of the south. This is where she first began playing music with her sister. Songs that describe race and cultural relations give us a glimpse into the importance of truth, honesty and saying it out loud. When she first coined the phrase “Disappear Fear,” she was doing social work, helping the worn down and broken spirits of those who are abused. The sense of not being afraid to “say” and “do” became a life philosophy. Disappear Fear is about erasing things that separate us as nations, cultures, races, sexual orientations, religions, etc. Her journey to connect with audiences has brought her into new languages and genres of music. She is currently working on a blues album, but in her latest compilation, “Splash,” there are reggae, acoustic, and soft rock rhythms with Spanish, Hebrew and English words. The mixture of live and recorded performances gives an intimate view for listeners to experience her music. And this all comes back to the point of togetherness. “We are all one and we are here to understand each other,” she says, “I am looking to reach as many people as I can.” She has performed in bomb shelters, festivals, concerts, political group events, and colleges. Music is the way that she has found to communicate with the world. This is the reason why we cannot pinpoint her to a particular genre. Her message is not just for those who are folk fans or world fans, it is for everyone and too often, we create these destructive lines of separation, which are heavily present in genres of music. We live in a time when songs are not written for meaning, but for the people who do say something worthwhile, we call them artists. In “Splash,” each song paints a picture for the listeners. Notes become brush strokes and by the end, she will have given you your own Picasso to interpret. Much of this has to do with the performances and where they take place. Each venue has it’s own energy, but SONiA attributes the true influence of her songs to her audience. The spirit of her music lies within the people who hear it. And truly, just as she paints in real life, she will capture an audience in the color of a song; a sitting that is so crucial for today’s audience. She has been noted as one of the most talented world artists that we have today and yet, there is so much more behind her lyrics. She has and will continue to win her awards, but the greatest gift that SONiA will continue to bring is her message of hope. It transcends through different races, cultures, nationalities, and generations. “Splash” is a compilation of favorites. It is a gift to those who are looking for answers and guidance in a world that has no life maps. It is the gift of understanding, love, and the sense that we are not alone. She will go wherever music takes her. As loyal listeners and fans, we will follow. She said it best, “Music will never end.” To find out more about SONiA and Disappear Fear, buy music downloads, paintings, clothing, dvd’s, cd’s, please visit: www.disappearfear.com . *18% of every song downloaded to the United Nations World Food Sponsor ads:
